Tyler Mane came to acting with a physical presence built for the big screen and a career behind him in professional wrestling. Born in Saskatoon on December 8, 1966, Mane began wrestling in Canada in 1986 as Skywalker Nitron. His years in the ring took him through promotions in the United Kingdom, Japan, Puerto Rico, Mexico and the United States, where he also worked for World Championship Wrestling and the Universal Wrestling Federation. Mane made his film debut in 1992, playing El Vampiro Interespacial in Luchadores de las Estrellas while wrestling in Mexico. After retiring from professional wrestling, he found a steady run of imposing screen roles. He played Sabretooth in X-Men, Ajax in Troy and Antaeus in Hercules, with other appearances including Joe Dirt, The Scorpion King and The Devil’s Rejects. These parts made practical use of his 6-foot-8 frame, but his best-known work depends on more than size alone: Mane has a knack for giving physically dominant characters a distinct sense of menace. That quality made him a natural fit for Michael Myers in Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007), one of the films featured by Please Rewind. Before taking on the role, Mane watched seven of the eight existing Halloween movies, skipping the third film because Myers appears only in an advertisement for the original. His version of Michael is unusually forceful and physical, turning the character into a looming, relentless presence. Mane returned as Michael Myers in Halloween II (2009), also covered by Please Rewind. The sequel made him only the second actor to portray Myers more than once and the first to play the role in consecutive films. He later returned to another major part from his career, reprising Sabretooth in Deadpool & Wolverine. Alongside acting, Mane has also worked as a screenwriter and film producer, and in 2010 he and his wife launched Mane Entertainment.
