Sheri Moon Zombie

Sheri Moon Zombie has built a screen career around horror’s rough edges, bringing a distinctive physical presence to characters who can be theatrical, menacing and strangely vulnerable. Born Sheri Lyn Skurkis in San Jose, California, in 1970, she was raised in Connecticut and graduated from Plainville High School. Before her feature-film debut, she toured as a dancer with Rob Zombie, choreographed routines, created tour costumes and appeared in music videos for Rob Zombie and White Zombie, including “Living Dead Girl.” That background in movement and visual performance became a natural foundation for her film work. Her breakout came as Vera-Ellen “Baby” Firefly in House of 1000 Corpses (2003). Baby’s bright, playful manner and capacity for violence made her a defining part of the Firefly family, and Zombie returned to the role in The Devil’s Rejects (2005) and 3 from Hell (2019). Her work with the ensemble in The Devil’s Rejects earned shared recognition at the Spike TV Scream Awards and a fuse/Fangoria Chainsaw Award with Bill Moseley. For Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007), she stepped into a different corner of horror as Deborah Myers, the mother of Michael Myers. Rather than playing one of the story’s killers, she occupies the troubled family history behind him. She reprised Deborah in Halloween II (2009), where the character remained part of the series’ psychological and emotional imagery. Both films are featured on Please Rewind. Her other credits show the range within that ongoing collaboration. She voiced Suzi-X in The Haunted World of El Superbeasto (2009), took major roles in The Lords of Salem (2012) and 31 (2016), and played Lily Munster in The Munsters (2022). Across those projects, her performances often meet heightened production design and macabre material on their own terms: committed, expressive and comfortable with horror that is rarely interested in restraint. Sheri Moon married musician and director Rob Zombie in 2002 and subsequently adopted the name Sheri Moon Zombie. Their long-running creative partnership has made her a recurring presence across his films, while her own screen persona has remained recognizably hers.
