George P. Wilbur
George P. Wilbur was an American stuntman and actor best known to horror fans for portraying Michael Myers in two films in the Halloween franchise. Born on March 6, 1941, Wilbur spent decades working as a professional stunt performer and stunt coordinator, contributing to numerous film and television productions. His physical performance skills eventually brought him to Haddonfield when he took over the role of Michael Myers in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988), helping re-establish the masked killer as the central figure of the series following his absence from Halloween III. Wilbur later returned to portray Michael in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995), making him one of the relatively small number of performers to play the Shape in more than one Halloween film. His version of Michael was imposing and physically powerful, particularly in The Curse of Michael Myers, and his two appearances connect important chapters of the franchise's original continuity. Beyond Halloween, Wilbur enjoyed an extensive career as a stunt performer, working on productions including Escape from New York, Poltergeist and Ghostbusters II. He died on February 1, 2023, aged 81, leaving behind a substantial stunt career and a lasting place in horror history as one of the men behind Michael Myers' iconic mask.
