Erich Anderson

Erich Anderson was an American actor whose career was built less around star billing than steady, versatile work across film and television. Born in Sagamihara on October 24, 1956, Anderson became a familiar presence on American screens, appearing in more than 300 television episodes over the course of his career. Among his early credits was the 1983 series Bay City Blues, followed by a role in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. Television, however, provided the broadest showcase for his range. He played Bruce Christianson in Second Chances, Billy Sidel in thirtysomething and Felicity’s father in Felicity—recurring parts that placed him comfortably within very different kinds of ensemble drama. Anderson was also the sort of actor who could step into a single episode and give it weight. His guest work included Murder, She Wrote, CSI, CSI: Miami, Melrose Place and House. On Star Trek: The Next Generation, he appeared as Commander Kieran MacDuff in the fifth-season episode “Conundrum,” while The Outer Limits gave him a lead role as Evan in “The Deprogrammers,” opposite Brent Spiner. He also appeared as a district attorney in Boomtown. Taken together, those credits show the shape of a durable working career: regular roles, guest appearances and genre work spanning crime stories, family dramas, science fiction and horror. Anderson could move between those worlds without needing to make the performance feel oversized, becoming one of those dependable faces viewers might recognize before they remembered where they had seen him. His creative work extended beyond acting. Between 2012 and 2022, Anderson published three novels. He died in 2024, leaving behind a substantial body of screen work defined by its variety and consistency.
