Busta Rhymes

Busta Rhymes is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer and actor who became one of hip-hop’s most distinctive performers during the 1990s. Born Trevor George Smith Jr. on May 20, 1972, he first gained widespread attention as a member of Leaders of the New School before establishing a hugely successful solo career. Known for his rapid-fire delivery, energetic performances and larger-than-life personality, Busta became a major figure in hip-hop while also building a parallel career in film and television. For horror fans, Busta Rhymes is particularly remembered for playing Freddie Harris in Halloween: Resurrection (2002), the producer behind the internet reality show that sends contestants into Michael Myers’ childhood home. Freddie ultimately gets one of the franchise’s most unusual encounters with the Shape, famously attempting to fight Michael using martial arts. The performance has become a memorable part of the film’s cult reputation and gives Busta a unique place in Halloween history. His other acting credits include Higher Learning, Shaft and Narc, demonstrating a screen career that extends well beyond his celebrated work in music.
