Brendan Fehr

Brendan Fehr is a Canadian-American actor whose career has moved comfortably between science fiction, network drama, film and music videos. Born on October 29, 1977, in New Westminster, British Columbia, he was raised in a strict Mennonite household and later moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Before his television career took hold, Fehr modeled for brands including Levi’s, Calvin Klein, Emporio Armani and DKNY Jeans, with his photographs appearing in magazines. He broke into television in 1997 with Breaker High, but his defining early run came as a regular on the science-fiction series Roswell from 1999 to 2002. The show gave Fehr a sustained place in genre television and established the kind of reserved, serious screen presence that would suit many of his later roles. Fehr also crossed into the music-video world. In U2’s “Stuck in a Moment You Can’t Get Out Of,” he played rookie football player Paul Hewson, whose missed game-winning kick drives the video’s story. He also appeared in Vanessa Carlton’s “Pretty Baby.” His later television work has ranged across action, crime and medical drama. Fehr starred as Jake Stanton in the 2008 miniseries Samurai Girl, recurred as Jared Booth on Bones and played criminalist Cooper on CSI: Miami. He also guest-starred in two episodes of Nikita. On film, his roles have included a businessman in A Christmas Kiss and the navigator of a U.S. warship in X-Men: First Class. From 2014 to 2017, Fehr played Dr. Drew Alister in NBC’s The Night Shift. An Army veteran and surgeon working at a San Antonio hospital, Drew brought together the military, medical and dramatic strands that have frequently shaped Fehr’s screen work. Across those varied parts, Fehr has built a career around characters operating under pressure, whether the setting is a hospital, a crime lab, a warship or a science-fiction series.
