Brad Greenquist

Brad Greenquist is an American actor whose career has taken him through horror, science fiction, fantasy and television drama. Born on October 8, 1959, he has built a body of screen work that is particularly familiar to viewers who enjoy the stranger and darker corners of genre storytelling. Greenquist appeared in Pet Sematary, the 1989 adaptation of Stephen King’s 1983 novel, and later in The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer. From the 1990s onward, he also became a regular guest presence on American television, with appearances in series including ER and Charmed. His work often finds him entering an established world for a single episode and giving it a character with a distinct place in the story. Star Trek offered Greenquist several such opportunities. Across four appearances in the franchise, he played different characters in three series: the thief Krit in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode “Who Mourns for Morn?,” Khata’n Zshaar in the Star Trek: Enterprise episode “Dawn,” and an unnamed Rigelian kidnapper in another Enterprise episode. He also appeared in the Star Trek: Voyager episode “Warlord.” On Stargate SG-1, he played the German scientist Dr. Keffler in the seventh-season episode “Resurrection.” His recurring connection to science fiction, fantasy and horror has also made him a presence on the convention circuit. One intriguing near-miss sits alongside those credits. Steven Soderbergh preferred Greenquist for the role of Graham Dalton in Sex, Lies, and Videotape after Kyle MacLachlan and Aidan Quinn turned it down. The producers wanted a more widely known actor, however, and James Spader ultimately received the role. It is a revealing glimpse of a career that has often been less about conventional stardom than about reliable, adaptable character work across film and television.
