Billy Warlock

Billy Warlock has built a career that moves easily between daytime drama, prime-time television, horror movies and the stage. Born William Alan Leming in Gardena, California, on March 26, 1961, he entered the business through stunt work. His father, Hollywood stuntman Dick Warlock, helped him secure a job doubling for Robin Williams on an episode of Mork & Mindy after Warlock graduated from Birmingham High School in 1979. Acting soon took over. Warlock auditioned for producer Garry Marshall and landed his first major television role as Leopold “Flip” Phillips on the ninth and tenth seasons of Happy Days. His early film work included small roles in Halloween II and Lovely But Deadly, both released in 1981, followed by Hotshot in 1987. He took the lead in Brian Yuzna’s 1989 horror film Society, a role that remains a distinctive part of his screen career. That same year, Warlock joined the original cast of Baywatch as lifeguard Eddie Kramer, appearing during the show’s first three seasons. He later returned to the character in the 2003 television film Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding. Other television work included The Hat Squad and the 1994 television movie Honor Thy Father and Mother: The True Story of the Menendez Murders, in which he portrayed Lyle Menendez. Warlock has had an especially substantial presence in daytime television. He played Frankie Brady across multiple runs on Days of Our Lives and won the 1988 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series. He also spent several years as A.J. Quartermaine on General Hospital, then appeared as Ben Hollander on The Young and the Restless and Anthony Blackthorn on As the World Turns. His work has extended beyond the screen. In 2004, he appeared in an off-Broadway revival of The Normal Heart at New York’s Public Theater, earning praise from Variety for a performance described as “sincere and nicely understated.”
