Antwon Tanner is an American film and television actor whose career has moved comfortably between long-running TV work and memorable supporting parts on the big screen. Born in Chicago on April 14, 1975, Tanner is best known as Antwon “Skills” Taylor on the CW series One Tree Hill. The role placed him within the show’s central circle and became the defining part of his television career. Tanner’s screen work extends well beyond One Tree Hill. He appeared in series including NYPD Blue, 413 Hope St., Sister, Sister, Moesha, The Parkers and CSI, building a résumé across a varied selection of television worlds. Taken together, those appearances show the shape of a working actor’s career: recurring recognition alongside guest roles that call for an immediate, grounded presence. His film credits include The Wood, a coming-of-age story centered on friendship, and Coach Carter, the 2005 sports drama in which he had a starring role alongside Samuel L. Jackson. Both films gave Tanner space within ensemble casts, an area in which much of his most familiar work can be found. He later appeared in a very different kind of project with the 2007 horror film 7eventy 5ive, starring alongside Brian Hooks, Denyce Lawton and Cherie Johnson. Across film and television, Tanner has become most closely associated with characters who belong to a larger group, whether among friends, teammates or the residents of an established TV community. Skills Taylor remains the clearest example: a role that made Tanner familiar to One Tree Hill viewers while anchoring a screen career that also includes network drama, sitcom appearances, sports storytelling and horror.
