Antonella Interlenghi is an Italian actor whose career has moved between film, television and the stage. Born in Rome on August 6, 1961, she grew up in an acting family: her parents were Antonella Lualdi and Franco Interlenghi. Her own screen career began in 1977, when she appeared under the name Phoenix Grant in Gianfranco Parolini’s adventure film Yeti: Giant of the 20th Century. That debut introduced Interlenghi through the heightened world of Italian adventure cinema, and much of her film work during the 1980s remained connected to popular genres. She appeared in a number of comedies and adventure films, building a career around the kind of lively, audience-facing productions that were a familiar part of Italian cinema at the time. Rather than being confined to one medium, however, she also developed a presence on television and maintained an active stage career. Her theatre work is an important part of that wider picture. Interlenghi notably worked with director Giorgio Strehler, linking her stage career with one of the major figures in Italian theatre. The combination of film, television and live performance gives her career a varied shape: an adventure-film introduction, a run of genre work in the 1980s, and continued activity beyond the cinema screen. Interlenghi’s screen history is therefore best understood not through a single defining role, but through her movement across different forms of acting. From the unusual spectacle of her first film to comedy, adventure, television and theatre, she has followed a path rooted in Italian performance while remaining open to the distinct demands of each medium.
