Anthony Ray Parker

Anthony Ray Parker is an American actor whose career has moved comfortably between film, television and voice work, with substantial time spent working in Australia and New Zealand. Born on May 13, 1958, in Saginaw, Michigan, Parker later settled in Auckland during the late 1990s and early 2000s. There, he became a prominent television presence through various appearances as Suzanne Paul’s sidekick. For many moviegoers, Parker is most readily recognized as Dozer in The Matrix. As the pilot of the Nebuchadnezzar, Dozer belongs to the small, battle-worn crew helping Neo understand the reality beyond the simulated world. The role placed Parker inside one of science fiction’s defining screen universes, while his wider career continued to take in action, horror and fantasy. Parker appeared in the 2006 action film The Marine and later in the horror film Dead Air. His work also extended to the Russian film Shadowboxing 2: Revenge, in which he played Buddy McDeere, head coach to boxer Anton Kolchin. Fantasy television provided Parker with several notably creature-focused assignments. In Hercules in the Maze of the Minotaur, he performed Gryphus, Hercules’ half-brother, who is transformed into a Minotaur by Zeus; the character’s voice was supplied by Al Chalk. Parker later performed a different Minotaur in the Hercules: The Legendary Journeys episode “The Sword of Veracity.” He also contributed monster voice work to Power Rangers Dino Thunder and Power Rangers Megaforce. In 2013, Parker appeared in Spartacus: War of the Damned as Sanus, a rebel slave. Taken together, these roles show a career shaped less by one fixed screen identity than by a willingness to move across countries, formats and genre worlds.
