Anthony De Longis

Anthony De Longis is an American actor and stunt performer whose screen career is closely tied to his skill with swords, whips and staged combat. Born in Glendale, California, on March 23, 1950, he has worked across film, television, theatre and voice acting, often bringing practical physical authority to characters who know their way around a weapon. His best-known film role is Blade in the 1987 fantasy adventure Masters of the Universe, where he also served as Frank Langella’s stunt double. He later played Gary Ketchum in Road House, performing featured fights opposite Patrick Swayze’s Dalton. In Fearless, he appeared as a swordsman opposite Jet Li. Those parts reflect the unusual shape of De Longis’s career: performance and action craft are not separate tracks, but parts of the same screen presence. That combination also defined his television work. During the first two seasons of Star Trek: Voyager, he had a recurring role as First Maje Jal Culluh, leader of the Kazon-Nistrim. Highlander: The Series gave him two different roles, Lymon Kurlow in “Blackmail” and Otavio Consone in “Duende.” His other television appearances include Battlestar Galactica, V, Babylon 5, MacGyver and Queen of Swords. On the latter series, he worked as swordmaster and stunt coordinator on its first six production episodes, trained lead actor Tessie Santiago in rapier, dagger and whip techniques, and appeared as both Maestro Torres and Krane. De Longis has also helped other performers make demanding action look convincing. He taught Michelle Pfeiffer to use the bullwhip for Batman Returns and gave Harrison Ford extensive whip training for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Away from live-action roles, he voiced Marshal Leigh Johnson in Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, as well as the antagonist Lord Zygon in Starchaser: The Legend of Orin. Across these varied projects, De Longis has built a career around the point where character, movement and weapon work meet.
