Anne Lockhart

Anne Lockhart has built the kind of wide-ranging screen career that rewards viewers who pay attention to the guest cast. Born in New York City on September 6, 1953, she comes from an acting family: her mother was June Lockhart, and her grandparents were actors Gene and Kathleen Lockhart. Yet her own body of work has taken a distinctive path through television, film, voice acting and the stage. Lockhart first appeared on screen at four, starring as Annie in the short film T Is for Tumbleweed, which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short Film. After several uncredited appearances on Lassie, she began taking credited television guest roles in 1965. She went on to make more than 60 network television guest appearances, with repeat visits to shows including Knight Rider, Simon & Simon, The Fall Guy, Murder, She Wrote and Diagnosis: Murder. For science-fiction audiences, her best-known television role is Lieutenant Sheba, whom she played across 11 episodes of Battlestar Galactica in 1979. She also entered the worlds of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Airwolf, CHiPs and Magnum, P.I. In the latter, she played the younger version of Diane Westmore in a World War II flashback, while June Lockhart played the character in the present day. That shared role neatly reflects the family connection without reducing Anne Lockhart’s career to it. Her film work began with the 1973 Western Jory and ranges from Slashed Dreams and Joyride to Troll, Dark Tower, Bug Buster, ExTerminators and Dakota’s Summer. In Troll, she again shared a character across generations with her mother, playing the young Eunice St. Clair. Lockhart continued appearing in television throughout the 2000s and 2010s, including multiepisode or recurring minor roles on The West Wing, NCIS, The Lying Game, Chicago Fire and shows in the Law & Order franchise. Alongside her screen and voice work, she has also performed onstage and helped establish the Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival, extending a long acting career into theatre and education.
