Angelica Page
Angelica Page has built a career that moves between stage, film and television, with acting joined by work as a director, writer and producer. Born Angelica Torn in New York City on February 17, 1964, she grew up around performance as the daughter of actors Rip Torn and Geraldine Page. Acting was not an immediate choice: Page has described herself as a shy child who initially resisted the path encouraged by her mother. After Geraldine Page’s death in 1987, she began exploring acting more seriously and trained at the William Esper Studio and HB Studio. Her first professional role came as an understudy in the 1993 Broadway revival of Eugene O’Neill’s Anna Christie. She made her feature debut the following year in Nobody’s Fool, then appeared in independent films before taking supporting roles in The Sixth Sense, Fast Food Fast Women and the political drama The Contender. In 2001, she played Patty opposite John Travolta in the thriller Domestic Disturbance. Her later film work included The Hungry Ghosts, directed by Michael Imperioli. Page’s stage career has been especially substantial. She originated the role of Patsy in Side Man, receiving the 1999 New York People’s Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress and the 2000 Helen Hayes Award for Best Actress for the production’s Kennedy Center engagement. Her performance as Ivy Weston in August: Osage County, on Broadway and during the national tour, brought a second Helen Hayes Award nomination in 2010. Television has given Page another lane for her character work, with appearances in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, The Sopranos, 100 Centre Street and As the World Turns. In 2015, she developed Turning Page, a one-woman biographical play in which she portrayed her mother. First staged in Los Angeles, the production toured nationally and continued through 2017—a personal meeting point between Page’s own work and the theatrical inheritance that shaped it.
