Angela Featherstone

Angela Featherstone has built the kind of varied screen career that lets an actor turn up in a familiar movie or television episode and immediately sharpen the scene. Born in Hamilton on April 3, 1965, the Canadian actor first worked in fashion. After emancipating herself from foster care at 17, she appeared on a record-selling September cover of Flare and went on to model internationally throughout the 1980s, signing with Click in New York and later becoming one of the first models signed to Next. Her best-known acting roles show a knack for making an impression without needing to dominate the story. She played Linda, Robbie's fiancée, in The Wedding Singer, as well as Chloe on Friends and the title character in the Seinfeld episode "The Maid." More recently, she appeared as Maggie on Ray Donovan and Jame on Girls. Across film and television, Featherstone's work has often placed her inside ensembles where timing and a clearly drawn point of view matter. Acting is only one part of her creative life. Featherstone has developed sitcoms for Sony, DreamWorks and NBC, while her nonfiction has appeared in Time, Jane, Flare, HuffPost, Dame and Zoomer. Her essay "God Said No," published in Gargoyle in 2014, was nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and Dame published her essay "Forgiveness" in 2021. She is also an alumna of the UCLA Extension Writer's Program in personal essay and memoir. In 2022, Featherstone moved into directing and producing with her seven-minute debut film, L'Étranger. That step brings together several strands of her career: years spent in front of cameras, decades in the film industry and an established interest in shaping stories on the page. Rather than following a single lane, her career has moved between performance, writing, visual culture and filmmaking, with each informing the next.
