Angela Aames was an American screen, television and stage actor whose career was defined by lively supporting parts and a willingness to lean into the heightened tone of a role. Born on February 27, 1956, in Pierre, she also worked as a model before and during a screen career that stretched from the late 1970s into the 1980s. Aames made her film debut as Little Bo Peep in Fairy Tales in 1978. The following year, she played the memorably named Linda “Boom-Boom” Bangs in H.O.T.S., establishing the playful screen persona that would shape many of her later appearances. Her film credits went on to include...All the Marbles, Scarface, Bachelor Party, Basic Training and Chopping Mall. Some of Aames’s roles were brief but designed to register quickly. In Bachelor Party, she appears during the opening credits as a mother posing with her child in a photography studio while the bachelors look on. She had a more substantial supporting role in Jim Wynorski’s 1984 fantasy adventure The Lost Empire. In 1983, Cinemax’s Likely Stories gave her an especially outsized assignment: playing an 80-foot-tall giantess. Television offered Aames another outlet for her comic presence. She made guest appearances on shows including Cheers and Night Court, then took on the recurring role of Penny, a fitness instructor, in The Dom DeLuise Show in 1987. Across these appearances, Aames became a familiar supporting player of her era. Whether working in film, episodic television or an exaggerated fantasy premise, she was often asked to make an immediate impression rather than carry the story. Her screen career ended in 1988, leaving behind a compact filmography that moves through several distinctive corners of 1980s entertainment.
