Andy Milder

Andy Milder is an American actor whose career moves comfortably between film, television, animation and narration. Born in Omaha on August 16, 1969, he has built a wide-ranging body of work without being confined to one format or genre. Movie audiences may recognize Milder from appearances in Apollo 13, Armageddon, Transformers, Domino, Rumor Has It… and Frost/Nixon. Those films place him across science fiction, action, drama and comedy, reflecting the adaptability that runs through his screen career. Television has given Milder some of his most sustained work. He was a series regular on Fame L.A. and became a recurring cast member, then a series regular, on Weeds. From 2005 to 2009, he played Dean Hodes, establishing a continuing presence within the show’s ensemble. Beginning in 2011, he also appeared in a recurring role on the Disney Channel sitcom Austin & Ally as Lester Dawson. His television credits extend across a notably varied group of series, including Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, The West Wing, Six Feet Under, Ugly Betty, Boston Legal, Parks and Recreation, Criminal Minds, Private Practice, Royal Pains and Rizzoli & Isles. It is the kind of résumé shaped by steady versatility: drama, comedy, science fiction and procedural television all sit naturally alongside one another. Milder’s voice work adds another side to that range. He voiced Lightning Lad in the 2006 animated series Legion of Super Heroes and returned to the character for Lego DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League: Cosmic Clash. He has also worked as a narrator on programs including Ballroom Bootcamp, Wrecks to Riches and Lost Gold of World War II. Across live action and voice performance, Milder’s career is defined by an ability to fit into many different kinds of screen worlds.
