Amy Hill
Amy Hill is an American character actress whose career moves easily among live-action comedy, animation, film and television. Born on May 9, 1953, in Deadwood, South Dakota, Hill has built a substantial body of work from supporting parts, recurring characters and regular roles—the kind of performances that can give a show its texture without demanding the spotlight. One of Hill’s best-known early television roles was Yung-hee, better known as Grandma Kim, on Margaret Cho’s sitcom All-American Girl. After that series ended, she played Kay Ohara on Maybe This Time, working alongside Betty White and former All-American Girl co-star Ashley Johnson. Her television credits since then have ranged from single appearances on Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Night Court, Six Feet Under and Desperate Housewives to recurring parts on Friends, Frasier, That’s So Raven, The Hughleys and General Hospital. Hill’s voice work has been just as wide-ranging. She played Mama Tohru on Jackie Chan Adventures, Ah-Mah Jasmine Lee on The Life and Times of Juniper Lee, Mah Mah on American Dad! and Mrs. Hasagawa on Lilo & Stitch: The Series. She also voiced Pang Bing, the antagonist in the series finale of Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness. Her film appearances include Max Keeble’s Big Move, Big Fat Liar, The Cat in the Hat, Let’s Go to Prison, Big Gay Love and 50 First Dates. She also appeared in Lilo & Stitch and its 2025 live-action adaptation, extending her connection to that story across different versions and formats. From 2018 through 2021, Hill co-starred on the Magnum P.I. reboot as Teuila “Kumu” Tuileta, the cultural curator of Robin Master’s estate. It is a fitting example of the space she has occupied throughout her career: a distinctive, dependable presence who can make even a crowded ensemble feel more lived-in.
