Amber Valletta

Amber Valletta arrived on screen with a quality many performers spend years developing: an immediate, composed presence in front of the camera. Born in Phoenix and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Valletta began modeling at 15 after her mother enrolled her at the Linda Layman Agency. She became one of the most recognizable models of the 1990s, appearing on the cover of American Vogue 13 times during the decade and joining its November 1999 Millennium cover as one of the magazine’s Modern Muses. That fashion career gave Valletta a natural command of the frame, but her acting work developed across a notably varied selection of genres. Her first film role came in the 2000 comedy Drop Back Ten, followed that year by appearances in Robert Zemeckis’s thriller What Lies Beneath and the romantic fantasy The Family Man. In Hitch, she took on her first major film role as Allegra Cole, the wealthy, guarded woman at the center of the film’s romance. The part made good use of Valletta’s ability to suggest reserve without making a character feel remote. Her subsequent films moved between studio entertainment and independent projects. She played the mother of a kidnapped child in Transporter 2, led The Last Time opposite Michael Keaton and Brendan Fraser, and appeared in the horror films Dead Silence and Premonition. Later roles included the science-fiction action film Gamer, the Jackie Chan comedy The Spy Next Door and the ensemble comedy Girl Walks into a Bar. Valletta also built a television career through recurring and regular roles. She played socialite Lydia Davis in Revenge, appeared as the ex-wife of Sean Bean’s character in Legends and starred as Carla Briggs in Blood & Oil. Across these projects, she has been especially well suited to characters whose polished surfaces conceal complicated loyalties or private tensions. Alongside acting, Valletta has continued working as a fashion model. She is also a Cherokee Nation citizen and, in 2025, was appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme, drawing attention to climate change and sustainable practices in fashion.
