Allison Mack

Allison Mack is an American former actress whose screen career was shaped above all by television, with supporting film roles, voice work and an eventual move behind the camera. Born on July 29, 1982, in Preetz, West Germany, she spent her earliest years there while her father, opera singer Jonathan Mack, was performing in the country. Her family later returned to the United States and settled in Long Beach, California, where she was raised. Mack began working young, first appearing in print advertisements and commercials for a German chocolate company. After a brief period in modeling, she studied at the Young Actors Space in Los Angeles at age seven. Early film credits included Camp Nowhere, Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves and My Horrible Year!, while a dramatic guest role on 7th Heaven became her first major television part. She went on to co-star in the short-lived 2000 series Opposite Sex. Her defining role arrived in 2001 with Smallville. As Chloe Sullivan, an original character created for the series and one of Clark Kent’s closest friends, Mack became a regular presence across nine seasons. She returned intermittently during the tenth and final season, including its two-part finale. The character also led the companion miniseries Smallville: Chloe Chronicles and Smallville: Vengeance Chronicles. Mack received Teen Choice Awards for Best Sidekick in both 2006 and 2007, and in 2008 she made her directing debut with the Smallville episode “Power.” Mack’s connection to DC stories extended into animation: she voiced Clea in an episode of The Batman and Power Girl in Superman/Batman: Public Enemies. After Smallville, she took a recurring role as Amanda in the FX sitcom Wilfred, later returning for an episode of its final season. Her subsequent television appearances included The Following and American Odyssey.
