Ali Larter has built a career around characters who rarely get the luxury of staying comfortable. Across horror, science fiction, comedy and television drama, she has played survivors, suspects, antagonists and women carrying more than one identity—sometimes literally. Born on February 28, 1976, in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Larter began modeling at 14 after being discovered by a scout and appearing in a Philadelphia Phillies commercial. Modeling took her to Australia, Italy and Japan before acting became her focus. Her first professional screen roles came in 1997, with television appearances in Suddenly Susan and Chicago Sons followed by work on Dawson’s Creek, Chicago Hope and Just Shoot Me! Her film debut arrived with Varsity Blues in 1999, and she soon found a durable place in genre cinema. As Clear Rivers in Final Destination, Larter gave the supernatural horror series one of its central survivors, returning for Final Destination 2. Legally Blonde offered a different register: she played Brooke Taylor Windham, the fitness instructor and widow accused of murdering her husband. Television gave Larter room to handle even more complicated material. On Heroes, she played both Niki Sanders—a woman with superhuman strength and alternate personalities—and Tracy Strauss, whose abilities included freezing objects and transforming into water. The dual assignment suited a performer comfortable moving between vulnerability, danger and heightened storytelling. That same quality made her a natural fit for Claire Redfield in Resident Evil: Extinction. Larter returned to the role in Resident Evil: Afterlife and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, helping anchor the series’ large-scale zombie action with the practical resolve of a convoy leader and survivor. Elsewhere, she played the threatening Lisa Sheridan opposite Beyoncé and Idris Elba in Obsessed, and later appeared in Legends, Pitch, The Rookie and the neo-western film The Last Victim. In 2024, Larter joined Taylor Sheridan’s Landman as Angela Norris. It is another sharply drawn role in a career that has repeatedly found energy in women who enter a story ready to disrupt it.
