Alexa Davalos

Alexa Davalos has built a screen career around characters navigating dangerous, often unstable worlds. Whether the setting is science fiction, wartime Europe, supernatural horror or an alternate version of history, she brings a grounded presence that keeps the human stakes in view. Born in Paris on May 28, 1982, to American parents, Davalos spent much of her childhood in France and Italy before settling in New York. Acting was part of her family background: her mother is actress Elyssa Davalos, her father is photographer Jeff Dunas, and her maternal grandfather was actor Richard Davalos. Even so, she initially kept her own acting ambitions from her family. After moving to New York on her own at seventeen, she supported herself through modeling and worked in a theatre, where her interest in acting took hold. She later attended the Off-Broadway Flea Theater. Early work included the short film The Ghost of F. Scott Fitzgerald, which screened at the 2002 Toronto International Film Festival, and a three-episode turn as Gwen Raiden on Angel. Her feature debut arrived with The Chronicles of Riddick in 2004, giving her a substantial entry into large-scale genre filmmaking. Davalos moved comfortably between very different kinds of movies in the years that followed. She appeared in the romantic drama Feast of Love, played Sally in Frank Darabont's The Mist and co-starred opposite Daniel Craig in Edward Zwick's war film Defiance. In 2010, she took on the role of Andromeda in Clash of the Titans. Television eventually gave Davalos the largest role of her career to that point. As Juliana Crain in The Man in the High Castle, which ran from 2015 to 2019, she stood at the center of an expansive alternate-history story. She later joined FBI: Most Wanted as Special Agent Kristin Gaines for two seasons. Across film and television, her work shows a clear affinity for pressure-tested characters: people forced to make difficult choices while the world shifts around them.
