Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin is an American actor whose career has moved freely between leading-man roles, sharp-edged character work, broad comedy, theatre and voice performance. Born on April 3, 1958, in Amityville, New York, Baldwin began acting on television in the soap opera The Doctors before making his Broadway debut in a 1986 revival of Loot and his feature-film debut in Forever, Lulu the following year. His film career accelerated in 1988 with a run that included Beetlejuice, Working Girl, Married to the Mob, Talk Radio and She’s Having a Baby. Those movies quickly established his range: he could play romantic, threatening, polished or ridiculous without losing the force of his screen presence. As Jack Ryan in The Hunt for Red October, he became a leading man in a major thriller. In Glengarry Glen Ross, his ferocious sales executive turned a brief appearance into one of the film’s defining confrontations. Baldwin later shifted increasingly toward character roles. His work in The Cooler earned nominations for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award, while collaborations with Martin Scorsese brought supporting parts in The Aviator and The Departed. He also appeared in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and returned for Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Television gave Baldwin one of his richest comic showcases as executive Jack Donaghy on 30 Rock. The role used his authority, timing and willingness to spoof the macho image that had shaped many of his film performances. He won three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, two Golden Globes and seven Screen Actors Guild Awards for the part. His later portrayal of Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live earned another Primetime Emmy, this time for supporting actor.
