Alan Blumenfeld

Alan Blumenfeld has built the kind of wide-ranging acting career that refuses to stay in one corner of the business. Born in Rockville Centre on September 4, 1952, he began acting at seven, while still in first grade, and has continued working across film, television, theater and voice performance. His television credits include appearances on Grey’s Anatomy, JAG, Gilmore Girls, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Without a Trace and Judging Amy. It is a varied group of shows, and one that reflects Blumenfeld’s ability to move between different casts and formats while sustaining a long screen career. Movie audiences may recognize him from The Ring, In Her Shoes and Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives—three films with notably different tones that further underline the breadth of his work. Blumenfeld has also reached audiences through video games. He voiced Glottis in the cult favorite Grim Fandango and Boyd Cooper in Psychonauts. Those performances form a distinctive part of a career that extends well beyond live-action roles, showing how naturally his work has crossed between mediums. Still active and based in Los Angeles, Blumenfeld continues to work in theater, film, voice acting and television. He also teaches acting at Pomona College in Claremont, California.
