Adrian Grenier

Adrian Grenier is an American actor, director, producer and musician whose career has moved between mainstream screen work and more personal projects behind the camera. Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on July 10, 1976, he was raised by his mother in New York City. He graduated from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts and later attended Bard College, leaving in 1997 to pursue film acting. Grenier made his screen debut in the independent drama Arresting Gena before appearing opposite Melissa Joan Hart in Drive Me Crazy and taking the lead in James Toback’s Harvard Man. His defining television role arrived in 2004 with HBO’s Entourage. As Vincent Chase, a movie star navigating Los Angeles alongside his friends, Grenier occupied the calm center of a series built around celebrity, ambition and the machinery surrounding fame. He played the role across eight seasons and returned for the 2015 film adaptation. His film work also includes Nate Cooper, the cook and boyfriend of Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs, in The Devil Wears Prada. The role made good use of Grenier’s grounded, understated presence amid the film’s sharper workplace comedy. He later appeared in the post-apocalyptic drama Goodbye World and the heist movie Marauders. In 2021, he took a darker television role as Nick Brewer in the eight-episode thriller miniseries Clickbait. Grenier’s interest in celebrity culture extends beyond acting. He founded Reckless Productions with partners in 2001 as a way to work across acting, directing and producing, with an emphasis on socially minded films. His directorial debut, Shot in the Dark, documented his attempt to reconnect with his estranged father. He also directed Teenage Paparazzo, examining a 13-year-old photographer and the celebrity-driven world around him, and produced the documentary How to Make Money Selling Drugs. Music forms another part of that restless creative profile. Grenier plays guitar, bass, drums and harmonica, performed with the New York bands Kid Friendly and The Honey Brothers, and later established the music incubator and recording studio Wreckroom.
